It’s Covid-19 and now Fall Break. Instead of locking ourselves up, we decided to take a trip to San Francisco. Why not? Just enjoy what there is to enjoy!

Time frame: Around October

Temperature: 50s - 60s . Windy & Foggy.

Place We Stayed:

Hilton Hotel Financial District.

- Located right near Chinatown (liter the next street in walking distance)

- During Covid, there is no room service.

- No fan in the bathroom (kinda weird...)

- Parking is $60/day but they reduced to $30/day.

RESTAURANTS

Ben Tre Vietnamese Homestyle Cuisine

Super good Vietnamese food. Their BEST dish is the Five-Spice Chicken. The chick is cooked just right in which, it is so juicy and yet flavorful.

Pier 39 Seafood Stalls

Pier 39 itself is very high foot-traffic, tons of people walking around. A lot of small retail shops but mainly geared towards tourists. The area, in my point of view looks run down and old. Definitely not high end if you looking for a slightly higher end area to hang out.

There are about 4-5 small shops/stalls offering seafood snacks and finger foods. There are a few tables outside for you to dine. An interesting dish was the Clam Chowder Bread Bowl. Pretty good! Calamari & Chips was so-so. Nothing special!

Mokuku Shabu

Hotpot is definitely a MUST during this cold weather. They have both menu and all-you-can-eat options. Their signature soup base is the Tom Yum Soup and the best is Seafood Plate. There are also sides included: Spinach, Mushrooms, Pumpkins, Carrots, Napa Cabbage, Corns, Tofu, Egg Noodles, Rice.

Original Joe’s

Italian restaurant located in Little Italy. Nice outdoor seating for Covid time.

Best Spaghetti With Meatballs. The Shrimp Campi is also delicious and creamy.

Farmhouse Kitchen Thai Cuisine

In Oakland. Nice outdoor seating right along the bay. Delicious Thai food. Pricey but worth the experience because of the unique tastes.

Get the Neua Nom Tom rolls!

Panang Curry & Pad Thai
Neua Nom Tok rolls
Yom Kha soup & Neua Nom Tok

San Jose

Go to San Jose for good Vietnamese food. If you stick to San Francisco, you’ll never find good Vietnamese food with tons of selection.

Pho Co

Pho Co stole my heart. BEST Vietnamese Pho Hanoi style. Located in San Jose where, Vietnamese town is. Amazing Pho 🍜

Pho with wide noodles, smashed filet mignon, meatballs and tripe

DRINKS

Yi Fang Taiwan Fruit Tea

The milk tea and tea here are excellent! The smell and taste is rich. Ai Yu jelly added is refreshing. Located right in the heart of China Town.

E Tea

Boba spot located right between Financial District and Chinatown. The Strawberry Shake was creamy and good. The Hot Black Sesame Milk Tea seemed a bit plain, could be a bit sweeter.

i-Tea

Boba spot located in Financial District near Union Square are. Their Tofuhua is a great add on to any milk tea. Their tofu is just right, not too soft like egg pudding but not super firm that you can’t suck using the big straw. Stick to their Popular Tea selection.

San Jose

Go to San Jose if you want good Vietnamese food. Covid is way more chilled here than in San Francisco.
